Fight Mosquitoes Smarter with In2Care® Mosquito Traps
At Saddleback Termite and Pest Control, we’re proud to offer the innovative In2Care® Mosquito Trap, a cutting-edge solution designed to dramatically reduce mosquito populations and lower the risk of mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue and Zika.
How It Works:
The In2Care® Trap targets Aedes mosquitoes, the primary carriers of these viruses, by attracting them with a specially formulated odor lure and standing water. Once a mosquito enters the trap to lay eggs, it comes into contact with a slow-acting larvicide and a biological fungus on treated gauze near the water surface.
Here’s the smart part: Aedes mosquitoes instinctively lay their eggs in multiple locations. After visiting the trap, the contaminated mosquito flies off and spreads the larvicide to other breeding sites, many of which are small and hard to detect. This stops larvae from developing—not just in the trap, but in the surrounding area as well.
Meanwhile, the mosquito herself becomes infected with a fungus that kills her within a few days, before she has the chance to spread any disease.
Why It’s Effective:
- Kills both adult mosquitoes and their larvae
- Targets hidden breeding sites mosquitoes often use
- Reduces the risk of virus transmission
- Environmentally friendly and safe for people and pets
With the In2Care® system, you don’t just kill mosquitoes—you break their lifecycle.
Mosquito Health Threats in Orange County
Mosquitoes aren’t just annoying—they pose serious health risks to you and your family. In Southern California, mosquitoes can transmit several dangerous diseases:
West Nile Virus
West Nile Virus is endemic to Orange County and remains the most common mosquito-borne disease in our region. Since 2003, California has reported over 8,000 human cases and nearly 400 deaths from this potentially devastating virus.
Invasive Aedes Mosquitoes
In recent years, aggressive new mosquito species have invaded Orange County, including Aedes aegypti (Yellow Fever Mosquito) and Aedes albopictus (Asian Tiger Mosquito). These daytime-biting mosquitoes can transmit Zika virus, dengue fever, and chikungunya if these diseases become established locally.
Allergic Reactions
For many people, mosquito bites cause painful swelling, itching, and allergic reactions that can impact quality of life and enjoyment of outdoor activities.
Common Mosquito Species in Orange County
Different mosquito species require different control approaches. Our technicians are experts at identifying and targeting these common Southern California mosquitoes:
Southern House Mosquito (Culex quinquefasciatus)
This brown mosquito is the region’s primary vector for West Nile virus. Active mainly at dawn and dusk, it breeds in a wide variety of water sources including untreated swimming pools, ponds, and storm drains.
Yellow Fever Mosquito (Aedes aegypti)
An aggressive daytime biter that prefers humans and can breed in tiny amounts of water—even bottle caps and plant saucers. They lay drought-resistant eggs that can survive months without water.
Asian Tiger Mosquito (Aedes albopictus)
Recognizable by its distinctive black and white striped pattern, this invasive species is an aggressive daytime biter that can transmit multiple diseases and breeds in very small water containers.
Western Encephalitis Mosquito (Culex tarsalis)
Common in rural and suburban areas, this species is a primary vector for West Nile virus and breeds in irrigation ditches, wetlands, and neglected pools.
